Bookish Facts!

I saw this floating around on BookTube (the bookish corner of YouTube) and thought it looked like fun. So I thought that I would do it, too!

1. I've been reading books for as long as I can remember. I've always read books of all kinds. 
2. I want to get into more graphic novels and comics. Those were the kinds of things that I could never really get my hands on growing up, unless they were free. Even then, I can only remember reading one or two of them and they were silly little things.
3. At the beginning of 2017, I set a reading goal of 30 books this year and I've managed to surpass it and have gotten to 49 books read so far.
4. I have 76 books sitting on my dining room table right this second that is part of my TBR pile. It doesn't include all of the books that are currently sitting on my Kindle that I haven't read.
5. My reading pace slows way, way down in the warmer months. There's more for me to do outside during spring and summer that I end up taking more time to read than I do in the fall and winter.
6. The only genre I don't read a lot of is romance. It's something I have to be in the mood for. And that doesn't occur very often.
7. One genre that I would love to get into more is psychological thrillers. I haven't read too many of them and would love to see more of them end up in my TBR pile.
8. I'm in the middle of so many series that I need to finish: The Lunar Chronicles, Dorothy Must Die, The Wicked Years (this is a reread series), Howl's Moving Castle, just too name a few.
9. My least liked book that I've read so far this year is Rushed by Brian Harmon. I loved the premise of this book but ended up disliking it so much that I won't be continuing with the series. 
10. On the flip side, my favorite book so far as been Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. This book has a bit of a Labyrinth vibe to it, which is probably why I loved it so much. Labyrinth was one of my favorite movies growing up and still is. There are differences between the two and if you love the movie, you just may love this book.

Page Habit Unboxing!

PageHabit is a new subscription service that brings you a new book and some goodies. BooklyBox was acquired by Quarterly.co, who are behind the Literary Box. With the acquisition, they formed Page Habit, which is supposed to be everything we love about both BooklyBox and Literary Box. This is the June box, so I am way late in getting this up. Ooops.

This is a hand written letter from the author, which gives away the book that's in the box. Since I don't like being spoiled for the book, I just sat it off to the side. But it's a nice thought so far.

I think it's wonderful that they're still donating a book for every book that's bought to those in need. This month's books were sent to Zambia and the card, like always, was filled with statistics on the country.

I love this little bag so much. And the quote is so very true. I have a lot of books to read (almost 80 at this point) and never enough time to read. I do believe this will be a great bag to put all of my bookmarks in so they're all in one spot and won't have to dig around for one when I need it.

Speaking of bookmarks, they included this beautiful one in the box. The quote says "Never put off till tomorrow the book you can read today" from Holbrook Jackson. And on the back it simply says "PageHabit." I may end up using this bookmark quite a bit.

They included some page flags in the box as well. They're simple colors with no fancy designs on them.I may end up getting some use out of these yet. Although, I do believe I have some page flags still from when they were included in BooklyBox a few months ago. You can never have too many, though!

I almost missed this adorable book shaped pin. It says, "Read more" on its covers and is going straight onto my work lanyard. Cannot go wrong with some bookish flair at work.

And last but not least, the book itself: The Witch Who Came in From the Cold by Lindsay Smith and Max Gladstone. The description on GoodReads describes it as: "Welcome to Prague, 1970: ground zero in a Cold War of spies and sorcerers. The streets are a deadly chessboard on which the CIA and KGB make their moves, little dreaming that a deeper game is being played between the Consortium of Ice and the Acolytes of Flame, ancient organizations that seek to harness elemental magic.

This has the potential to be an interesting book. And there are post it notes all through out the book with author notes all throughout the book. Which is a nice touch to the book.

Out of everything in the box, my favorite thing has to be the pin, outside of the book itself. To be honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the whole thing. Was hoping there would be one or two more things in the box relating to the book. And I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't any tea in the box at all. The teas in BooklyBox was definitely something I looked forward to every month. It brought different teas into my life that I wouldn't normally try if it hadn't been for BooklyBox. Hopefully July's box will be even better. This was, after all, the first box for PageHabit. Can only go up from here.
